IELTS SPEAKING PART 1

Do you often go travelling?

Yes, I do. You know, it’s a great way to relax and relieve stress. Usually, I go on a trip on national holidays when I have lots of time on my hand.

Do you like travelling?

Travelling helps me explore new things, new culture and broaden my knowledge.(Đi du lịch giúp tôi khám phá những điều mới, nền văn hóa mới và mở rộng tầm nhìn của mình.)

Do you like to travel alone or in a group?

you know, the more the merrier. On top of that, there’s always someone who I can talk to and take great photos of me. (Bạn biết đấy, càng nhiều càng vui. Trên hết, luôn có người mà tôi có thể trò chuyện và chụp những bức ảnh tuyệt đẹp về tôi.)

Which do you prefer, a city break or a beach holiday?

Unlike major cities which are always heavily polluted, beaches bring me much better experience thanks to the fresh atmosphere and the beauty of nature. You know, I really love sandy beaches with crystal-clear water.

Which do you prefer, travelling by bus or by plane?

Actually, I haven’t travelled by a plane before. However, if I have to choose, I would prefer flying since it’s much faster. Also, I can’t stand the crowd on buses.

(Tuy nhiên, nếu phải chọn, tôi thích đi máy bay hơn vì nó nhanh hơn nhiều. Hơn nữa, tôi cũng không thể chịu đựng được đám đông trên xe buýt.)

Where do you like to travel during the holidays?

I like to travel abroad but it can be expensive, so I usually plan affordable travel. Travelling to holiday destinations when it is out of season saves a lot of money. Out of season travel is also the best way to avoid places that are swarming with tourists.

What are your favourite holiday pastimes?

Answer: I like to get away from it all. I look for exotic destinations with scenic views that are off the beaten track. I tend to avoid guided tours and packaged deals as I prefer to go sightseeing on my own.

How do you plan and prepare for your holiday?

Answer: I always do my research. I thumb through holiday brochures and check travel sites like Airbnb on the Internet. I’m drawn to spectacular beaches and lush forests. I usually make advance reservations for self-catering accommodation.

Are there a lot of holidays in Vietnam?

Let me see…quite a lot. I mean, there’re holidays almost every month, and sometimes these holidays are to celebrate the most ridiculous things. But I’m fine with that, you know, I have more days off from work!

What do Vietnamese people like to do during their holidays?

I think most Vietnamese people want to stay at home to relax and recover from their busy schedules at work and school. I also notice that some families in the city often go on a picnic during these days.

IELTS SPEAKING PART 2

Describe a city you enjoy visiting.

Answer: Honestly speaking, I have a myriad of destinations on my must-visit list around the world. However, if I have the opportunity to choose one city, I would probably pick Dalat, the city of romance, the city where lovebirds gather and craft memories. Dalat has acquired quite a reputation for a number of things. To start off, let’s talk about the weather here. You know so, despite being located in a tropical region, the city’s temperate climate stands in stark contrast to the tropical climate found elsewhere in Vietnam. And I think this is also one of the reasons why a lot of tourists from neighboring provinces frequent this place on a regular basis. It is such a great retreat from the heat and humidity, it provides me with a temporary respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. And I get to have my peace and quiet when I’m here.

So if you’re looking for something a little less tranquil, you should definitely check out this place – Dalat market, which is also where I am right now it is so bustling at night you know. You can find all kinds of things here like ranging from fresh produce, some of Viet Nam’s finest varieties of coffee to the delicate handicrafts produced by the local artisan.

Well, there’s a bunch of stuff you can do here. On a crisp morning, you can always kick off your day with a little stroll or a jog around the Xuan Huong lake while soaking up the fresh air. It’s just so refreshing, rejuvenating and super romantic if you do that with your significant other.

Describe one of your best travel experiences.

Answer: Last year a friend and I took a long-haul flight to the USA. It was an interesting journey, my first flight out of my country, Vietnam. I was amazed by the journey and the experience will be memorable always.

I traveled by aeroplane and also used some other local transports in the USA. But the journey by aeroplane was the most impressive one in my life. It took around 17 hours to reach the USA from Vietnam. I was too excited that I could not sleep the entire time. Initially, I felt a bit uncomfortable as it was my first air ride too. But gradually I coped with the situation. I got the chance to visit around Los Angeles – my destination, the people were very nice and the cuisine was delicious.

I was really happy to have the chance to visit America and the flight was really enjoyable. Considering everything, the trip is a blast in my life and I will never forget my experience from this trip.

Describe a holiday or vacation you have been on.

A few months ago, I went to the South of Vietnam for a vacation with my family. It’s was to the lovely coastal city of Nha Trang, which is also a very famous tourist destination. We decided to go there by plane since it is nearly 1200 kilometres from Hanoi, and would take a long time by car or train.
I was so eager for the trip that I prepared everything such as my clothes, camera and other accessories a week in advance. It took about an hour to fly there, and luckily, the flight took off on time. The trip began with an incredible view from the airplane window and I can still remember being quite overwhelmed by the beauty of my city from above and the amazing sunset.

The time we spent in Nha Trang was a blast. We got to try out so many new things such as skydiving, surfing, and diving to see the coral reef. This place has one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam with deep blue water and pearly-white sand. Also, the food there was so unique and delicious. I think the most memorable moment of that trip though was definitely when we bought fresh ingredients from a local market and grilled them by the beach. Sitting there by the fire on a breezy night with the delicious smell freshly barbequed fish was an amazing experience.

The trip to Nha Trang really was the holiday of a lifetime. We had a lot of fun and got to see a lot of spectacular scenery. We definitely enjoyed it and we will definitely go there again if we have a chance.

IELTS SPEAKING PART 3

What is the importance of traveling?

Answer: I think traveling is important for a variety of reasons. Firstly, traveling allows you to broaden your horizons as you experience new ways of life. It’s always fascinating to see how different people from different cultures approach the same tasks. Secondly, traveling gives you the opportunity to educate yourself, maybe learn a new language or to talk to people that you wouldn’t normally communicate with. The other beautiful thing about traveling is that you can see some incredible places such as Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, one of the natural wonders of the world, the truly breathtaking views as you travel through the Bay. They are memories that you create that you can’t simply can share through the lens of the camera, you have to go to see it in person and experience it for yourself. So, I believe traveling makes you a well-rounded person and somebody that is better able to cope with situations at home.

The benefit of traveling?

Answer: Firstly, I think traveling is an excellent way to relieve stress. We’re all living in an increasingly demanding society, so sometimes it’s actually really good to just unplug from the world for a little while and by this travel somewhere have a change of scenery. For me personally, I prefer somewhere that offers me the thrill of city life as well as a retreat to nature. There’s just something incredibly therapeutic about being in touch with nature and away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Secondly, traveling helps you become more interesting. When you travel you’ll come into contact with a lot of cultures and people from various backgrounds, you get a lot of interesting exchanges from these encounters, discussing your cultures, customs with the locals and vice versa.

Do you think there are also negative impacts of tourism?

Answer: Yes, of course. There are various negative consequences of tourism that can negatively affect the local people or the locations. For example, if the foreign tourists do not take care of places they visit, like historical places, it would cause damage to them and thereby, the loss of culture and heritage. Secondly, a huge crowd of tourists can also affect the city, causing inconvenience to local residents.
