In many countries around the world, specialised sporting facilities for top-level athletes are prioritised over those that cater to the general public. Although providing such facilities for everyone to use is extremely important, I believe that providing specialised facilities for high-level athletes is still a positive development.

On one hand, providing sport and exercise facilities for general public use allows people to enjoy the benefits that playing sport and doing exercise brings, which ultimately benefits a country as a whole in the long term. When given adequate facilities and equipment, citizens are able to improve their health and wellbeing by doing exercise and playing sport. By improving the overall health of the general population, a country will have less healthcare costs and a higher level of happiness and wellbeing amongst its citizens. Furthermore, by giving children better access to sports facilities, a higher number of young people are likely to excel in sport, giving the country a better chance at producing high-level athletes.specialised facilities to improve their performance to a world class level.

In conclusion, although sporting facilities for the general public are highly important, for those countries wishing to produce top-level athletes, specialised training facilities are of much higher importance.

• Health and wellbeing

Nghĩa: làm điều gì đó rất tốt, hoặc thực hiện tốt hơn so với hầu hết mọi người

Ví dụ:

When he was young, he excelled in mathematics. Now he’s a leading physicist at the biggest university in the country.

The team excels at defence. Nobody has scored a goal against them all season.

• to prove oneself as something

Nghĩa: chỉ ra rằng bản thân có khả năng đạt được hoặc thành công ở một cái gì đó

Ví dụ:

To prove oneself as a successful musician these days, you need to release an award-winning album.

He proved himself as a worthy opponent, by winning the match with a flawless victory.

He wanted to prove himself as a successful businessman because his parents said he would never make it to the top.

• (to) show a high level of something

Hoặc: to show a high degree of something (skill/proficiency/excellence)

Ví dụ:

He showed a high level of intelligence from a very early age.

It is important to remember to show a high level of respect for your teachers.
